Baseball Coach Ethan Meguiar Wins a Historic 400 Games
By: Amanda Crutchfield
Logan County Baseball has started the season of 2017 with a bang. This is the first ever 6-0 record in Cougar baseball history. Defeating Greenwood, Hopkinsville, Ohio County, Bowling Green, Glasgow, and Russellville, the team reached the milestone of 400 wins under Coach Ethan Meguiar. Senior Jackson Campbell currently leads the team in runs (7), hits (8), and batting average (.533), while sophomore Dylan Penick leads the team in RBI’s (7). Campbell is also the only player to have a triple, however, no home runs yet for the Cougars. The team is outscoring their opponents this year by a margin of 49-10. If the Cougars have five consecutive 20 win seasons, including this season, Coach Meguiar will be among the top 25 winningest coaches in Kentucky’s high school baseball history. Campbell is confident about this year as he claims, “6-0 is definitely the best start we’ve ever had as a team or any team I’ve ever been a part of. As a team, we all feel like this is our year to once again break the school record in wins while also winning a district and regional title and making a run at state.” Come out and support our Cougars this Friday at 5:30 to watch the team go head to head against the cougars of Grayson County at home!
