Canned Food Drive

By Tristin Powell

Logan County High School’s FFA and FCCLA clubs are collecting cans to donate to Good Samaritan Organization in Russellville, Ky. Cans have been collected in the mornings when teachers put them outside their classroom doors. They are being stocked in the FFA closet and they will be taken to Good Samaritan at the end of this week.

img_9294With a goal of 5,000 cans, so far we have raised over 2,700. Good Samaritan feeds over 500 families a month and even more in the winter months. Do you realize just how much one can will help a family in need? So imagine what 1,000 cans can do. Good Samaritan feeds over 500 families a month and even more in the coming months.

Soon, we will give a report on how many cans have been received and the leading first period classrooms in the competition among classes to bring the most items.  We will speak with these teachers to see how they encouraged their classes to bring cans, considering that a policy was installed to give extra credit for students bringing items.
