Jordan Butler in DC
By Blayke Bingham
Jordan Butler, a current sophomore at Logan County, took a trip to Washington D.C. over fall break. Kids from all around the world met to attend the conference.
Butler was selected by his freshman World Civilization teacher, Ms. Esther Orndorff, to participate in the week-long event put on by the National Youth Leadership Conference for National Security.
Throughout the week Butler had the opportunity to listen to speakers from the FBI and Homeland Security, and visit places such as The Naval Academy, DC’s local Air Force Base, Washington National Mall, the Capitol Building, and The White House. While he enjoyed all of those experiences, Butler stated that his favorite part was, “Connecting with people his age from around the world and making friendships that will last a life time.”
For future students who may be be interested, Butler highly recommends this trip for anyone with the opportunity, because “it was an eye opening experience and one I will never forget.”
